This shadow show with puppets made in China is based on a short excerpt from the novel by Wu Chengen (1500-1582). It is an imaginative account of the adventures of the Chinese Buddhist monk Xuanzang (596-664, also known as Tripitaka), as he
journeyed across the deserts of Central Asia on his way to India to obtain Buddhist scriptures and bring them back to China. His companions, Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy, had in a previous incarnation been important deities or spirits who, after making some great mistakes, were given terrible punishments. Their work for the monk would redeem them from
further suffering. Free, no need to book. The show will last for approximately 15 minutes.
