To celebrate Shrove Tuesday Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm will be offering free pancakes for all visitors this coming Tuesday the 24th February.
As a different spin on the traditional Pancake Day celebrations visitors can visit Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm and see how to make special Gibbon and Lemurs Cakes. As part of the zoo’s enrichment programme visitors will be able to see delicious pancakes filled with raisons, bananas and honey made by Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm keepers. They will then be given to the Gibbons and Lemurs during afternoon feeding time.
Pancake Day (also known as Shrove Tuesday) is the last day before the period which Christians call lent. It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes. Lent is a time of abstinence, of giving things up. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.
Visitors can enjoy free pancakes this Tuesday 24th February 10.30 – 5pm.
