2008 brings the first ever 10K race to Bristol! The Bristol City Council have organised the official run which will finally take place. The date has been moved forward (to bank holiday Monday, 5th May 2008). The date change has occurred to avoid a clash with the Bristol City football match against Preston North End on the Sunday.

The race will kick off at 9.30am outside @Bristol near the centre, and continue along the harbourside and around the Avon gorge (on car free roads). Eventually the race ends back where it began.
The Bristol 10K offers 15,000 places and many have been filled already. The 6.2 mile run is a fantastic opportunity for anyone willing to take part. It is an official race where amateurs will be running alongside professionals, and clubs will be running alongside individual athletes. It's a great opportunity to get a taste of what distance running is all about, to train and improve fitness and earn a worthwhile personal achievement. To take part it costs between £18-£20 (depending on whether you are affiliated to a running club), and you must enter through the official website, entry on the day will not be accepted.
Following the 10K, September 14th brings the Reebok Bristol half marathon. This 13.1 mile run is a challenge worth taking on, and a fantastic opportunity to raise money for charity through sponsorship. The course is apparently quite similar to the 10K (with it obviously being a little longer). Be an inspiration and take part.
